I have no Voice!

Got my rejection from Voices . Of course, I was happy just to make the short list on it, so I'm still pretty damn happy. Now, to shop the story around for a new home, eh? The rejection was nice, not really a rejection at all, more a "It stayed in till our final discussion, and we just decided it didn't fit into the shape the other stories gave the anthology." You can't be disappointed, being one of 26 to make it to the final round, and I'm not. If nothing else, I have a little bit of recognition with the editors now, even if it is just "You know, he wrote a pretty good story for that one anthology we did, let's give hima read for this one"

Other than that, I woke up late this morning, rushed to take a Postal Exam, and am now getting changed to head off to an interview.

To the rest of you shortlisters, let me know you made it in, eh?

Peace,
J.C. Tabler

Sorry to hear your story didn't make it JC, but as you said 'you made the final 26' and that's outstanding.

Yep. Always a runner-up, never a beauty queen...Though I think I would look rather stunning in a dress. That's just my opinion.

I've seen the picture, I agree. ;)

I'm quoting you on that to my wife the next time we're shopping at a maternity store and I see a blouse I really like...never lets me buy anything to feel pretty...

Sad thing? Someday, somewhere, my kids will read this and wonder if Dad was a crossdresser.

Eh, I didn't make it in either. I got pretty much the same response you did. And I feel the same as you about making it to the shortlist, so it's not all that bad. Time to take the advice they gave me, inccoporate it and send it elsewhere.

Best of luck with future stories!

I just liked the line of the rejection that said "We have no criticism of your story"

We have no criticism was pretty much it, it's a good story and I'm hoping when you see the final book you'll get what we meant...

(but you might not)

Hope it finds a home soon!

Hey, I personally can't wait to read the book. I have, to quote King, always found hotel rooms to be naturally creepy places.
