Northern Haunts

Well, got a letter from Tim Deal, editor of Shroud's Northern Haunts anthology the other day. It was a request for a rewrite on my story "It Wonder Me". I rewrote, sent it back to him with the changes noted in an e-mail. Today, I heard back.

"Many Comforting Words", a ghost story set in Eastern Connecticut (formerly "It Wonder Me", a ghost story set in Pennsylvania Dutch country) will be published in the Northern Haunts anthology. Considering that, almost two years ago, my grandmother (who was the glue in my family and the namesake of my unborn youngest daughter) died of cancer, I'm very happy to be involved with this anthology.

Alright!

Peace,
J.C. Tabler

Again - congratulations, congratulations, congratulations...

I'm beginning to think my wee tales won't make it in.

Nice work! Many congrats! I agree with Catherine...no word on my tale "Bogg's Island" yet, so I'm gonna safely assume it will be getting the axe. Also, sorry to hear about your grandmother.

CATE: Patience! Remember, the man has 100 stories to accept, and more submissions to go through. Not hearing anything yet isn't necessarily bad. It could jut be he's accepting and rejecting (sending out the letters, at least) in the order that the submissions came in. Chin up, if I made it in, you're a sure shot!

Barry: Same as with Cate...and thank you for the condolences. She was a good woman, and it was very hard on our family after she passed on. Even now, almost two years later, we're just starting to pull ourselves back together.

JC, were you one of the multi-subs authors to this antho, or was your accepted tale a sole sub?

That was my only one. I really had only one good campfire style ghost tale in me that was short enough for the anthology, and wrote it and revised it in a two-hour session, sitting on the couch, in between working on another story.

I didn't know you had your own blog! (Thank you, Google haha) But, that's wonderful news! Barnes and Noble actually informed me that they have a copy of Northern Haunts in and I look forward to checking out your work.

Peace,
